No. Bybit does not serve people in the United States. Its help center lists the United States among the excluded jurisdictions where Bybit does not offer services or products, and Bybit applies these restrictions by nationality, not only by where you live. No US state is exempt, and Bybit EU is not open to US nationals either. Source: Bybit help center, on bybit.com.

What Bybit offers where it operates

Bybit says it is trusted by more than 80 million users. In our view, it suits active traders who want spot, derivatives and automation in one account. Spot trading costs 0.10% for makers and takers at the entry tier, and perpetual and futures contracts cost 0.02% for makers and 0.055% for takers. Bybit offers USDT and USDC perpetual futures, options, copy trading and trading bots. It also publishes regular proof-of-reserves reports.

In 2025, approximately $1.5 billion in virtual assets was stolen from Bybit, with the FBI attributing the theft to North Korea. The following proof-of-reserves snapshot by Bybit showed its ETH reserves at 102% of customer ETH. Our Bybit review provides detailed information on its fees, products, and security, and our list of exchanges for day trading compares it with other platforms for active traders.

What US residents can use instead

We checked the terms or help pages of each provider below, and each one says it serves customers in the US. If low fees and a broad product range matter most to you, we would start with Kraken, which has the highest fees and costs rating of the four in our reviews. If you are new to crypto, we think Coinbase is the simpler start, with our top rating for beginner friendliness.

Questions US readers ask about Bybit

Is Bybit available in New York?

No. Bybit makes no exception for any US state. If you live in New York, Coinbase holds a New York virtual currency license from the NYDFS, and eToro offers crypto trading in New York through eToro NY LLC.

Can you use Bybit from the US with a VPN?

Bybit's restrictions follow nationality, not your current place of residence, so a US national is covered by the exclusion even when living abroad. In our view, a VPN changes neither where you live nor your nationality, so it does not change the answer.

Our take

In our view, Bybit suits active traders who want derivatives, copy trading and bots in the countries it serves. For US residents, the better route is a provider whose own terms cover the state you live in, such as Kraken or Coinbase.
