No. WEEX does not serve people who live in the United States. Its Terms of Use list the United States of America, together with US territories and commonwealths, among the "Excluded Jurisdictions", and residents of those jurisdictions may not open an account or use WEEX's services. No US state is exempt. Source: WEEX Terms of Use, on weex.com.

What WEEX offers where it operates

WEEX reports having 6.2 million users across more than 150 countries. In our view, it is built for active traders who want derivatives. Spot trading fees are 0.10% for makers and takers at the entry tier, and futures trading costs 0.02% for makers and 0.08% for takers. WEEX offers 1,025 futures contracts, with leverage of up to 400x on BTCUSDT and ETHUSDT, and includes copy trading and a futures demo account. It maintains a protection fund of 1,000 BTC at a public Bitcoin address and provides proof-of-reserves snapshots.

Our WEEX review discusses its fees, products, and security in depth, and our list of exchanges for day trading compares it with other platforms for active traders.

Which countries WEEX does not serve

The same section of the Terms of Use names these Excluded Jurisdictions:

  • the United States, US territories and commonwealths, and Canada
  • South Korea, mainland China, Hong Kong and Singapore
  • the United Arab Emirates
  • North Korea, Cuba, Iran and Sudan
  • Belarus, Russia and the Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine
  • Somalia, Myanmar and Venezuela

WEEX states that it may halt services in other jurisdictions at its discretion.

What US residents can use instead

We checked the terms or help pages of each provider below, and each one says it serves customers in the US. If low fees and a broad product range matter most to you, we would start with Kraken, which has the highest fees and costs rating of the four in our reviews. If you are new to crypto, we think Coinbase is the simpler start, with our top rating for beginner friendliness.

  • Kraken: accessible to residents of every US state except New York and Maine, with some products, like staking, varying by state. Source: Kraken help center. More in our Kraken review.
  • Coinbase: available to residents of every US state. Source: Coinbase US User Agreement. More in our Coinbase review.
  • eToro, a broker: crypto trading through eToro USA LLC, or eToro NY LLC for New York residents; not offered in Hawaii and Nevada. Source: eToro US disclosures page. More in our eToro review.
  • Crypto.com: the Crypto.com App is available in 49 states and DC, but not in New York. Source: Crypto.com help center. More in our Crypto.com review.

Our Coinbase vs Kraken comparison sets the two largest options side by side, and our list of exchanges for US customers shows which provider serves which state.

Questions US readers ask about WEEX

Can you use WEEX from the US with a VPN?

WEEX's terms do not allow it. Residents of an Excluded Jurisdiction may not open an account or access WEEX's services, and the United States is on that list. In our view, a VPN does not change where you live, so it does not change the answer.

Is the WEEX app in the US App Store?

Yes, the WEEX app appears in the US App Store, but this listing does not override the Terms of Use: the exclusion of US residents applies to the app too.

Is WEEX legal in the US?

Two US states have acted against WEEX. In December 2024, the Arkansas Securities Department ordered WEEX International Exchange LTD to cease all money transmitter activity in Arkansas until it secures proper licensing. In 2025, a cease-and-desist order from the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance against the same company, over money transmission without a license, became final. The company also holds a federal registration as a money services business (MSB), a registration, not a license.

Our take

In our view, WEEX suits active traders who want futures, copy trading and a demo account in the countries it serves. For US residents, the better route is a provider whose own terms cover the state you live in, such as Kraken or Coinbase.
