Transferable to your own wallet
Self-custody of cryptocurrencies plays an important role for many users who want to manage their cryptocurrencies and thus their "private keys" themselves and not leave them in the hands of the exchange. Most exchanges offer the option of sending the purchased cryptocurrencies to their own wallet.
Deposit protection is a safeguard for the assets of users of a stock exchange or broker, which is intended to protect investors in the event of insolvency or a high loss due to a hacker attack. Service providers based in Germany are legally obliged to provide deposit protection of €100,000. In some cases, international exchanges have a special insurance policy that covers a certain portion of the assets instead of a deposit guarantee.
The overall rating is the average of our individual ratings. Our ratings do not constitute investment advice, but merely our personal opinion. You are welcome to use them as rough indicators and additional perspective. In the dynamic and fast-growing crypto sector, parameters can often change from one day to the next, so we cannot guarantee that the rating data is up to date. Therefore, please never use our ratings as an isolated basis for decision-making and not as a substitute for your own research.
This rating describes our personal assessment of the user-friendliness of the product. How easy is the onboarding process? How modern is the user interface and is it easy to use? Are all the important functions quick and easy to find? We ask ourselves all these questions in order to give a personal rating from 1 to 10 points.
This rating describes our assessment of the fee structure of a stock exchange or broker. It is not only the amount of fees that can differ, but also the type of fees. The most common type of fees for crypto exchanges are the "maker/taker" fees or spreads. In some cases, there are also hidden fees that are not recognizable to users at first glance.
For products or services in the crypto space, trust and security should be the biggest factors in the selection process. Since we could not seriously evaluate the technical security of a platform or product, we analyze publicly available factors such as security features, location, regulation, certifications, audits, team/company, general reputation and, of course, track record.
Crypto doesn't have to be cryptic. Especially for beginners, the first contact with the crypto world can be overwhelming. With this rating, we give our assessment of how easy it is for beginners to find their way around: from the onboarding process to using the most important functions.
Customer support is an important factor for many users. A long wait or no response at all in the event of problems can be frustrating, especially when it comes to sensitive topics such as finances. With this rating, we give our assessment of the quality of customer support. In order to provide as balanced an assessment as possible, we also include user opinions from other platforms in our evaluation.
Some exchanges and brokers are regulated by financial supervisory authorities in certain countries/states. This often entails strict financial regulatory requirements and compliance requirements to which the company must adhere. Regulatory clarity can contribute to greater transparency and thus also greater trustworthiness.

Our Review

Copy Trading Challenger vs Ecosystem Giant
For most active traders outside the US, WEEX is the stronger choice in our view. We rate it higher overall. It offers 1,173 crypto assets compared to 416 on Binance. Its futures leverage extends to 400x. We would pick Binance for options, stocks, and lower futures taker fees on a global platform that is regulated in Abu Dhabi. WEEX does not provide services to US residents, whereas Binance only reaches them through the separate Binance.US exchange.
What trading costs on each side
Spot trading costs are the same at the entry level, with 0.10% for both makers and takers on Binance and almost every pair at WEEX. Binance reduces this to 0.075% if the fee is paid in BNB, while WEEX lowers its rates across nine VIP levels, from VIP 0 to VIP 8, with holding its WXT token as one qualification method.
On USDT perpetual futures, both have a maker fee of 0.02%, with Binance charging takers 0.05% compared to 0.08% at WEEX. Thus, market orders on futures cost less on Binance.
A Bitcoin withdrawal on the Bitcoin network incurs a fixed cost of 0.00016 BTC at WEEX and 0.00002 BTC at Binance, which also offers Lightning withdrawals at 0.000001 BTC. The fee page of Binance mentions that rates may change without notice during network congestion. Neither charges a deposit fee for BTC.
We consider the two platforms level on fees and costs, although based on these figures, Binance is less expensive for futures takers and Bitcoin withdrawals.
Coins, futures and products
WEEX offers 1,173 crypto assets on 1,637 spot pairs, nearly tripling the 416 crypto assets available on Binance. Binance includes 87 bStocks, tokenized US stocks and ETFs, in its spot market, totaling 1,372 spot pairs overall.
WEEX lists 1,022 perpetual contracts, with leverage of up to 400x on BTCUSDT and ETHUSDT. Binance lists 788 stablecoin-margined futures contracts, 571 of them crypto perpetuals and 213 TradFi perpetuals on equities, commodities, indices and FX, plus COIN-M futures and options. In our view, leverage this high is a tool for experienced traders: a small price move can wipe out a position.
Binance also provides US stocks and ETFs, Earn and staking, P2P trading, Auto-Invest, copy trading, and trading bots. Not every product is available in all regions. On the WEEX side, you get copy trading at a 10% share of your net profit for the lead trader, TradFi perpetuals on precious metals, stocks, and crude oil, demo futures with 50,000 USDT in demo funds, and Auto Earn.
We rate the two level on range of functions and WEEX higher for operation.
Regulation, reserves and track record
Since January 2026, the global Binance platform has been regulated by the FSRA of the Abu Dhabi Global Market through three companies, with Nest Exchange Limited as the operator of the exchange. Client assets sit with Nest Clearing and Custody Limited as custodian, segregated from its own assets. No Binance company is in the interim register of crypto-asset service providers authorized under MiCA that ESMA keeps.
In November 2023, Binance Holdings Limited pleaded guilty in the US to failing to maintain an effective anti-money laundering program, operating an unlicensed money transmitting business and sanctions violations, and the four US actions together required Binance to pay over $4.3 billion. The SEC civil case against Binance was dismissed with prejudice in May 2025.
WEEX names no license, and its terms of use name no legal entity. The operator named in US regulator records, WEEX International Exchange LTD, holds a FinCEN registration as a money services business, which is not a license, and regulators in Arkansas and Georgia have ordered it to cease and desist over money transmission without a license. WEEX does keep a 1,000 BTC protection fund in a public Bitcoin address, which its terms treat as supplemental coverage at its sole discretion, not insurance.
Both platforms publish proof of reserves without naming an outside auditor. The monthly Binance snapshot, structured on a Merkle tree with a zk-SNARK proof, showed BTC at 100.16% and USDT at 102.91% of net balances, which since January 2026 include the platform's own assets. The WEEX page showed 146.39% of user BTC and 100.02% of user USDT.
We rate WEEX higher for security and trust.
Verification and support
Binance mandates identity verification with an ID and liveness check for all new users before accessing its products, including deposits and trades. WEEX requires identity verification for specific products and account situations, such as P2P trading, copy trading, and Auto Earn.
According to Binance, its customer support runs 24/7 in 40 languages. We rate WEEX higher for beginners and for support.
Where you can use WEEX and Binance
WEEX is not available in the US. Its terms exclude the United States, its territories, and Canada. Binance.com does not serve those located in, residents of, or citizens of the United States, so US residents use Binance.US, a separate exchange operated by BAM Trading Services Inc. (NMLS ID 1906829) with its own accounts, terms, and fees. Binance.US lists 204 crypto assets and operates in 38 states plus DC and Puerto Rico, but not in states such as New York, Texas, and Washington.
Elsewhere, Binance.com also excludes Canada and the Netherlands, among others, and names no license in the EU or EEA. WEEX names South Korea, mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, among others, and is not in the European register of authorized crypto-asset service providers either.
Residents of the US can find coverage of platforms that accept them on our list of exchanges for US customers and our Is WEEX available in the US? page.
